The move isn’t unexpected, as the developer has been preparing for this for some time as it has moved resources away from producing new DLC and on to new projects. While perhaps adding additional content remains with the developer, they are no longer active in obtaining new content. The developer confirms that for the time being the already released DLC will continue to be available, and there are no plans at this time to shut down any of the servers.
Harmonix acknowledges that it has several new titles in development, but has yet to say what they might be. According to rumors, one of the titles the developer is working on is called Chroma and is said to be a narrative-driven combat title. Sources tell us Harmonix is planning to take the curtains off at least one of these titles with an announcement at E3 in June. No word on who the developer has a publishing deal with, but it might be Microsoft, as the company’s Dance Central releases have been published by Microsoft.
