The news that Obsidian’s Kickstarter proposal called Project Eternity is almost funded isn’t surprising at all. The company is seeking funding to develop a PC-only isometric dungeon crawler that will be similar to Baldur’s Gate or Planescape: Torment, but instead will be in its own new world of fantasy.

The project has been able to rake in over $1 million of the $1.1 million goal of the Kickstarter funding that Obsidian is seeking to get the project off of the ground. The rewards are pretty creative, depending on which level you choose to fund at.

Obsidian comments in their pitch that it is impossible to fund a title like this and Kickstarter is the best way to link up those that want the game and the developer who wants to create the game. The development team will include those from such games as Fallout, Icewind Dale 1 & 2, Planescape: Torment, and Fallout New Vegas. It is a great collection of developers slated to work on this project.
