Avalanche opens new NYC studio
Will support Project Mamba for 2014 release
Developer Avalanche Studios from Sweden has opened a new 10,000 square foot American studio in New York. The developer has an option on an additional 3,000 square feet to support future expansion, if necessary. The new American arm for the studio best known for Just Cause will be home to 50 developers to start with, which includes a core team from the Stockholm facility.
The expansion is in part to support the development of a new AAA title that is known as “Project Mamba,” which is being developed for a 2014 release. While the code name of the project has been known since June, it is still unknown what exactly the title name might be.
Apparently, Avalanche has been planning this expansion for the last three years, and the studio is pleased with its execution of its expansion plans.
