DICE claims that this is the deepest shooter in company history, and players of Battlefield 3 will be kept busy for a long time unlocking things. The number of unlocks is simply crazy, with DICE saying that Battlefield 3 has 10 times the unlocks that Bad Company 2 offered. In fact, it has more unlocks than all of the previous Battlefield games put together.

The unlocks are spread across weapons, weapon attachments and gadgets. There are also more ranks in Battlefield 3 for players to obtain. Even if you obtain max rank you can still add more with service stars that will be new in Battlefield 3.

The ranks and unlocks have turned out to be so popular that it was a big focus for DICE to deliver a significant upgrade to the unlocks and ranking system.
