A round of browser-based free to play games that will incorporate Star Trek are coming. German online gaming giant Gameforge has reached an agreement with CBS Consumer Products to produce a number of browser-based games that will incorporate the Star Trek franchise.

Gameforge reportedly has over 100 million users registered for its 20 games that it currently has, which are available in 50 languages. The first title will be a Facebook game which Gameforge is having developed by an unnamed developer in California. The Facebook title will incorporate the Original Star Trek, while the second title will incorporate Star Trek Deep Space Nine, according to sources.

None of these browser-based titles are expected or designed to compete with the Atari distributed Start Trek Online MMORPG that is developed by Cryptic Studios. The Star Trek Online MMORPG is subscription based.

A release date has yet to be announced, but the first of these browser based titles are expected to arrive later this year.
