Korean gamers investigated over match fixing allegations
Further proof gaming is becoming a proper sport
South Korean police are investigating match fixing allegations made against several professional StarCraft players. It seems that professional gamers are trying to imitate European football players, many of whom would gladly sell their mothers for a Bentley, let alone their team's games.

Like pro athletes they receive coaching, sponsorship and endorsements, but they don't appear to be using steroids like their colleagues in major league baseball.
South Korea even has a rather serious e-Sports Association and this regulatory body is behind the charges levied against several players and coaches. According to the Korea Times, StarCraft accounts for around 70 percent of e-sports in the country.
