2K Games announced Firaxis Games is working on a new installment in the legendary Civilization franchise.

Sid Meir's Civilization V is scheduled to ship this fall, more than four years since the release of Civilization IV. Judging by the screenshots, the new title will feature somewhat better graphics with more detailed environments. It will also rely on hexagonal tiles rather than squares.



2K claims the game is built around a new engine and that it will feature multiplayer support and that it will be mod friendly. Of course, it will be just as addictive as the older versions.
