Secret of Monkey Island now dated
As we told you, will be a Special Edition
LucasArts had previously confirmed our early report that they would be bringing the classic adventure puzzler franchise, Monkey Island, back with two new additions that would be released at some point in the future.
The Tales of Monkey Island will arrive on PC and WiiWare on July 7th. This will feature a new storyline and be split into five episodes that will arrive in separate releases over the next several weeks.
Microsoft Xbox 360 owners should not feel left out as The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition will arrive on Xbox Live Arcade on July 15th. The new version features new upgraded graphics, re-mastered musical score, and updated voiceover for the classic title that was originally released in 1990. In addition, Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition will also be available on Steam for digital download on the PC.
LucasArts has also done a digital distribution deal with Steam to make additional catalog titles for the PC available. Starting July 8th PC Owners will be able to pick up Armed and Dangerous, 3 Indiana Jones titles, LOOM, 3 Star Wars titles, The Dig, and Thrillville: Off the Rails. LucasArts claims that it is responding to the request of consumers who want to play the back catalog titles but are unable to locate them, and digital distribution gives them another option to obtain these older titles.
