Battlefield 1943 to arrive July 8th
PC version still delayed till September
DICE announced that the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Battlefield 1943 will arrive for download starting on July 8th for the Xbox 360 and July 9th on the PlayStation 3. The price for Battlefield 1943 has been confirmed at 1200 Microsoft Points for Xbox 360 users or $15 for PlayStation 3 owners.
The game will be a 560MB download and include Wake Island, Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima. In addition, a fourth map (which happens to be Coral Sea) will remain locked until players of the combined Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions achieve 43 million kills between the two platforms, and then it will be unlocked for all to play.
With a focus on multiplayer matches using DICE’s latest revisions to the Frostbite engine, Battlefield 1943 looks to be a tour de force for fans of the original Battlefield. Still, some are already complaining that the PC release is on hold until September. According to DICE, the additional time is necessary to get everything right on the PC version of Battlefield 1943. It is expected that when completed, the PC version will also be sold for $15 through digital distribution for PC owners.
