Eidos brand will continue
Studio will be operated independently
Since the purchase of Eidos by Square Enix, some things were bound to change and now we are learn about what the first round of changes by the new owners will bring.
For the time being Eidos will be operated as an independent studio. This means that it is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Square Enix, but Phil Rogers will continue to be the CEO of the studio and report directly to Yoichi Wada.
Square Enix seems content to guide the studio, but wants to protect the studio’s independence so that they are able to develop world class titles and leverage the franchises that the company already owns.
Right now little is really known about the future direction of Eidos and what they could be working on. It is known that the Eidos team in Montreal is working on Deus Ex 3, but beyond rumors of a possible new Thief title, no one really knows. No sequels have been announced for either Tomb Raider or Hitman, which are two of the other franchises that many expect to see sequels announced for.
Our sources suggest that announcements of future projects could come as soon as E3.
