NHL 09 predicts a win for Boston
Stanley cup simulation could tell all
If Electronic Arts NHL 09 is correct, it will be time to celebrate in Boston as the simulation mode tells of a Stanley Cup victory. With the NHL 2009 Playoffs set to start, the prediction by the software seems to fly in the face of conventional analyst wisdom that predicts that none other than the San Jose Sharks will likely be victors of Lord Stanley’s Cup.
According to NHL 09, Boston will face the young upstart Chicago Blackhawks and defeat them in six games to claim their first Cup in 37 years. Last year NHL 08 predicted that the San Jose Sharks would win the Cup, only to be eliminated before the Western Conference semifinals.
So, the EA Sports NHL titles have not had good luck at predicting the winners, but Boston has been very powerful this season in the Eastern Conference, and with a little luck it could be their year. The prediction that Chicago will represent the Western conference is a little more suspect, with teams like Detroit, San Jose and Vancouver likely to be better stacked to make it out of the west.
