Well, we won’t even pretend to think that anyone might ever beat USA to the number one gaming market in the world, but recent developments have seen the UK proudly take the number two spot. So far, it was Japan who graced the position but as of January 2009, things have changed.
The UK game sales in January 2009 were up by 37% compared to 2008, whereas the previous year saw total software sales rise by as much as 37%.
It’s said that the reason for this is that the Japanese have already purchased their share of Wiis, DSs and PSPs, but the Britons can’t get enough of them, which is quite peculiar given the state of the world economy. On the other hand, what better way to take your mind off of it?
