Zork surfaces as Web-based game
Next generation-enabled browser MMO
classic text-based Zork is going to return as a new casual MMO browser-based game on the Internet to be titled “Legends of Zork.” The new spin on the old classic will attempt to revive the popular Zork franchise with a new approach of making the game a browser-based MMO.
The next generation of Zork will be developed by Jolt Online Gaming in conjunction with a partnership with Activision which happens to be the rights holder of the Zork franchise and IP. The game will be playable on multiple Internet-enabled, browser-based devices, including devices like the Apple iPhone. The game will not require a download of a special client and will be accessible from pretty much anywhere.
The new Zork plot will take a bit of a twist, as well, with the player being put into the role as a newly unemployed traveling salesman that seeks adventure as a treasure hunter in the Underground Zork Empire.
While it is not clear how the company hopes to generate revenue on Legends of Zork, we suspect that it will be advertising-based with ads displayed in conjunction with the playing of the game. Stay tuned to www.LegendsofZork.com for additional details as to when you can join in the fun.
