It appears that the Activision-Blizzard merger has taken its toll and it seems we’ll soon see some Vivendi casualties sacrificed for the “greater good” of the new company. Apparently, since the companies merged, there arose a need for a more focused strategy which means downsizing Vivendi’s and possibly other teams' portfolio in order to stay more efficient.
Activision Blizzard representative stated how Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, Ice Age, Prototype and one unknown game will be the only games coming out of Vivendi, but that leaves quite a few titles out. Brutal Legend, Ghost Busters, Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust, and several other PC and XboX Live Arcade titles were therefore supposed to be dropped and the teams “relocated”, but since then a Sierra PR said how Ghostbusters are still in the works. Nevertheless, that's still a hefty number.
There was no mention of possible “downsizing” of other titles in this newly formed company’s arsenal, but Blizzard will probably remain unscratched. However, such actions give way to suspicions that we’ll soon be seeing staff layoffs, as there’ll be much less work to be done.
