Being a direct successor of the well known MSI X99 SLI Plus motherboard, the new MSI Z170A SLI Plus uses the same all black design with new features, courtesy of Intel's new Z170 Express chipset.
Based on a standard ATX form-factor and features Military Class 4 components with Dark Choke, Dark CAP and Guard-Pro features and components, the new MSI Z170A SLI Plus supports Intel's new 6th generation Core Skylake CPUs, has four DIMM memory slots with support for up to 64GB of DDR4-3600 memory.
It also comes with three PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots, working at x16/x0/x4 or x8/x8/x4 mode, as well as three PCI-Express 3.0 x1 slots. The two PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots are MSI's Steel Armor PCI-E slots which should endure larger and heavier graphics cards thanks to more solder points. As far as storage is concerned, the MSI Z170A SLI Plus features six SATA 6Gbps ports, one Turbo M.2 slot and optional Turbo U.2 slot via host card.
The rest of the features and specifications include MSI Audio Boost with Realtek's ALC1150 7.1-channel audio, USB 3.1 gen2 Type-C port, six USB 3.0 and six USB 2.0 ports, Gigabit Intel V219-V Ethernet, as well as MSI exclusive features like EZ Debug LED, Click BIOS 5, OC Genie 4, DDR4 Boost, XMP LED and more.
Unfortunately, MSI did not announce the precise availability date or the price but we expect to see it on retail/e-tail shelves soon.
