ECS has released its A785GM-M micro ATX board into the
shops.
Based on the AMD 785G and SB710 chipsets, it supports the
latest socket AM3 45nm AMD Phenom II processors up to 140W TDP. The A785GM-M also supports up to 32GB DDR3 1333/1066/800
SDRAM via the 4 DIMM sockets. Why it does this is anyone's guess as 16GB is the
practical limit due to maximum DRAM size of 4GB at present.
The board has lots of connections with Gigabit LAN, 12
USB 2.0 ports, 6 SATA 3.0Gb/s connections, along with Firewire and eSATA
connectors. It looks to us like the A785GM-M is ideally suited for a
home theater build crowd. It has integrated ATI Radeon HD 4200 graphics
including AMD Hybrid Crossfire technology and DirectX 10.1 capabilities.
ECS has also included an 8-channel HD audio and
HDMI+DVI+VGA video connections along with eJIFFY, a Linux-based interface for
quick booting for when you just need to go online for browsing or checking
e-mail. It can be found online for about $100.
