In this year, AMD IGP platform will get a SB710 Southbridge companion and in the future the company will release SB820 one. The new SB820 Southbridge will bring Gigabit MAC inside as well as SATA 3 with double the bandwidth, where you can expect a whopping 6Gb/sec per controller. This is one of the unique features of SB8x0 chipsets and SB850 will also share this neat feature.

Some good old features such as RAID 0,1 and 10 will also be there as well as 12+2 USB ports. The SB820 also has new clock generator, AHCI 1.2 (FIS) and a single PCI Gen 2 x4 support.

The release date is in early 2010 and until the day comes RS880C, the new IGP chipsets from ATI will have to settle for SB710 Southbridge.
