Sapphire has just announced a new addition to its range of AMD motherboards with the introduction of its first AM3 motherboard which goes under the name of PC-AM2RS790G or the PURE CrossFireX 790GX.

As we're sure that you've figured out by now, this motherboard uses the 790GX chipset from AMD and it has the SB750 southbridge. The board supports AM2+ and AM3 processors and DDR2 memory. As the chipset feature integrated graphics, Sapphire has gone with 128MB of sideband memory for those interested in using it or running hybrid CrossFire.

Other features include a pair of x16 PCIe slots, two x1 PCIe slots and two PCI slots. Around the back the board has a pair of PS/2 ports, an HDMI port, a DVI and D-sub connector, four USB 2.0 ports, Gigabit Ethernet and 7.1-channel audio jacks. The board also has six SATA ports, headers for an additional eight USB 2.0 ports, an IDE and floppy connector, a debug LED display and a pair of power and reset buttons.

It also seems like Sapphire has shifted from DFI to Jetway as the designer and manufacturer, as the PC-AM2RS790G bears an uncanny resemblance to the Jetway HA07-Ultra motherboard. No word on pricing or a launch date was given, but Sapphire will be showing this board at CeBIT in Germany next month.
