VIA launches new IPC platform
Designed for UTM, VPN, and Firewall Applications
VIA has announced the release of their new network appliance board called the NAB 7500. The board, which is targeted at the industrial space, is designed to be a platform to build next generation network and network security appliances.
The NAB 7500 features the 1.5GHz VIA C7 processor, with the option of a 1 or 2GHz CPU, with up to five Gigabit Ethernet ports, four SATA ports, a serial port, and a TPM module for hardware-based data protection. The 7500 is a low-cost, high performance building block for developers looking to develop next generation appliances with the features necessary to compete in today’s market place.
VIA moving the C7 platform into the embedded space is perhaps a good move for the company. With advantages in price they are able to deliver a lot of computing power necessary for many appliance applications in a very cost effective package.
