It looks as if AMD is set to release a new entry level chipset before the end of the year, namely the expected RS740 or the 740G as it might be known when it hits retail. A couple of pictures of ECS upcoming RS740 based board have made their way online and it looks like it will be paired up with the SB700 Southbridge.

The not so imaginatively named RS740M-M board from ECS looks to pack quite a lot of features, but even more interestingly, the chipset has a tiny heatsink, which is suggesting that the RS740 is a very cool running chipset, just like the 790FX.

Feature-wise, we're looking at a single x16 PCIe slot, a single x1 PCIe slot, two PCI slots, six SATA connectors, oddly enough only 10/100Mbit Ethernet, 5.1-channel HD audio, DVI, D-sub and four rear USB 2.0 ports with headers for another six ports.

The integrated graphics core of the RS740 chipset only supports DX9 and it will share up to 128MB of system memory for graphics usage. Memory support is CPU dependant, but as this chipset has been designed for AMD CPU's, it will support dual-channel memory.
