According to DigiTimes the unresolved status of VIA’s chipset patent status has resulted in SiS as the “go to” company for Southbridge Chipsets.

This shortage will affect less than 3% of the first tier desktops expected to be shipped by PC makers.

SiS has placed a priority order with UMC for additional chips using UMC’s .15 micron process.
