Intel promises better IGP 965 /G35 driver
Motherboard manufactures doubt it
Intel is reportedly attempting to deliver better graphics performance with plans to release new drivers for its integrated graphics processors (IGPs). Intel has announced that it is planning in August to release new drivers for its G965, GM965 and G35 chipsets to support Vertex Shader 3.0, along with two new drivers, 15.6 and 14.31, to support Windows XP and Vista.
Motherboard makers in Taiwan generally doubt the advancements that Intel is claiming.
Intel claims that the new drivers will significantly aid stability and provide support for its Shader Model 4.0. and add a noticeable performance boost for games such as Guild Wars, UT2004 and Stalker.
Motherboard manufacturers in Taiwan remain skeptical, noting that the information released by Intel indicates a lack of support for many other well-known and more popular video games and have reportedly expressed doubt that there will be noticeable advancements upon release of the new drivers.
Taiwanese mobo manufacturers also pointed out that the new G35 chipset that Intel claims will support DirectX 10 is only "hardware ready" – and that the driver that actually supports DirectX 10 won’t be available until CY 2008.
