In addition to its new Elitebook 800 G5 series, HP has also announced the new ZBook 14u/15u G5 mobile workstation series which has had quite a few updates, including AMD's discrete Radeon Pro WX 3100 GPU.

When compared to the previous generation, the ZBook 14u is now 28 percent thinner, coming in at just 17.9mm and weighs a bit less at 1.48kg. Both the ZBook 14u G5 and the ZBook 15u also come with CNC machined chassis and aluminum keyboard deck, bringing a touch of class to these workstation workhorses.

When it comes to hardware, both the new HP ZBook 14u G5 and the ZBook 15u G5 have been updated with optional 14-inch/15.6-inch 4K IPS LED-backlit screens, in addition to the usual 1080p IPS standard and touch screens.

The entire series uses a wide range of Intel's latest 8th generation quad-core mobile CPUs, ranging from Core i5-8250U to the Core i7-8650U. It can also be equipped with up to 32GB of DDR4-2400 RAM in two SO-DIMM slots, up to 1TB of PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD storage or HP's 1TB HP Z Turbo Drive G2.

Unlike the HP Elitebook series, which can be equipped with AMD Radeon RX 540 discrete graphics, the ZBook 14u/15u G5 come with a workstation-oriented Radeon Pro WX 3100. Offering 1.07TFLOPs of compute performance and 2GB of GDDR5 memory on a 128-bit memory interface, the Radeon Pro WX 3100 ought to provide decent performance in CAD or design applications like Autodesk Revit, Siemens NX, Solidworks or PTC Creo.

AMD also published a short post, listing some of the features and advantages of the Radeon Pro WX 3100 at its own website.

The rest of the specifications including a couple of USB 3.0 ports, Thunderbolt 3 port, an HP Premium Collaboration Keyboard which is spill resistant and comes with an optional backlit feature, Bang & Olufsen stereo speakers, and a 3-cell, 50Wh battery that it's claimed will keep both the 14u and the 15u alive for up to 10 hours.
