Toshiba showcased the Encore 8-inch Windows tablet earlier this month and it promised that its new toy will cost less than Acer’s W3. That was supposed to be $330 in the US, but luckily it’s not €330 in Europe, it’s €299, which still makes it a bit pricier than the W3.
However, the Acer W3 rocks a Z2760 dual-core, while Tosh went for a quad-core Bay Trail Z3740 clocked at 1.33GHz. This makes it hands down the cheapest Bay Trail tablet to show up so far.
Other specs include 2GB of RAM, a 32GB SSD, Micro HDMI, 8-inch 1280x800 screen, b/g/n wireless, Bluetooth 4.0 and a microSDHC reader. There’s also a 64GB version for €349. At 480g it weighs a tad more than your average Android 8-incher, but it’s not too bulky – it measures 213x136x10.68mm.
