Toshiba is stepping up its ultrabook game a notch, with an all new ultra high resolution 13-incher.
It is called the Kirabook and it is a sign of things to come, as it is supposed to be the first in a line of Kira products. We’re not entirely sure about the name, but we like everything else.
The 13-incher features a 2560x1440, 221ppi display. A 10-point touchscreen with Gorilla Glass is optional. It will ship with a range of Ivy Core i5 and Core i7 chips, 8GB of 1600MHz DDR3 and a 256GB SSD. It packs three USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, memory card reader, Bluetooth 4.0 and a Li-Poly battery, which is supposed to deliver all-day battery life.
The rest of the spec just screams premium. It has a couple of Harman Kardon speakers with DTS audio processing, two microphones and an HD webcam. All this is packed in a 1.18kg chassis constructed from a pressed magnesium alloy and it measures just 0.7 inches at the waistline.
The first Kiras should ship in May. There’s no word on pricing yet, but judging by the spec it will end up very pricey indeed.
