However, due to hardware limitations, the docking station does not feature HDMI output and it only comes with micro USB and 3.5mm audio connectors. Still, it is the first official accessory to utilize the three pogo pins on the left hand side of the tablet.

Oddly enough, aside from a few cases and covers, Asus and Google have not offered any proper accessories for the Nexus 7. The iPad mini already has a bunch of covers and even some hardware keyboards, not to mention a range of legacy accessories available with a Lightning to 30-pin adapter. Not the Nexus 7 though, it’s got just a handful of cases and pouches, that’s all.

The new dock is said to cost $39, which doesn’t sound like a bargain considering the lack of HDMI. Mind you, in the iPad universe $39 is peanuts, but we are talking about a $199 device and it could do with equally affordable accessories as well.
