Google’s budget Android tablet has been making its rounds around the rumour mill and now we are hearing that it will be released in July.

Digitimes is reporting that shipments will start in June, with initial shipments expected to hit 600,000 units. The launch was delayed due to some minor adjustments and Google is expected to sell 2 to 2.5 million units by the end of the year.

Several other vendors are also said to be working on similar low-end designs and we could see a lot more competition in the 7-inch Android tablet space in the latter half of the year. Nvidia also announced its Kai platform earlier this week, gunning for $199 quad-core tablets.
