It seems every manufacturer in the world is rushing to release a range of netbooks with Intel's new dual core N550 processor.

Acer, Asus, Lenovo, and LG netbooks have all signed up to using the beast, which claims to be faster and enable better graphics. The four big OEMs will join Fujitsu, Hewlett-Packard, MSI, Samsung, and
Toshiba  which will also offer netbooks powered by its N550, which has speed of 1.5GHz and 1 MB of cache.

The dual core chip seems to be edging out the single-core Atom N450 processors on netbooks, as single cores offer inferior peformance. Intel insists that the N550 does not chew through batteries so all is well.
It will be interesting to see how many of the OEMS will change their minds on the Intel chip when AMD releases its low-power chip called Ontario. AMD will beginning to ship this chip with CPU and graphics
processor in the last quarter of the year.
