AMD does more deals with laptop makers
Including 109 “back to school” products
It appears that AMD is having a bit of a renaissance in the laptop market. Sources within AMD said the company's latest microprocessors are expected to be included in 109 mainstream laptop models in the coming months.
Last year were there were only 40 laptop models sporting AMD chips and this is the first time AMD has attracted so much notebook attention. According to MSNBC the positive responses from top PC makers are due to AMD's attempts to simplify its numerous offerings under its new "Vision" brand. They also have better battery life and performance across the line.
AMD says it's focusing on the consumer segment, which is expected to fuel PC growth. The PC makers expected to feature AMD's new chips as early as June include Hewlett-Packard, Lenovo, Acer and Dell, the sources said.
