Asus Eee PC S101h shipping in Europe
N280 and a 160GB hard drive
The Asus Eee PC S101 is without a doubt one of the best looking netbooks on the market, but it also had quite a few shortcomings.
First of all, it was very pricey when it showed up, and at €350 it's still no bargain, considering you get an Atom N270 and a total of 32GB of solid state storage, 16GB of which is basically and SDHC card.
Although we're fans of SSDs, 16GB, or 32GB depending on how you look at it, is simply not enough nowadays. So, Asus has launched a new version with a 160GB hard drive, and it now packs a 1.66GHz Atom N280 on a 667MHz bus. At €399, it costs a bit more than the old version, and it costs as much as Acer's 11.6-inch Aspire One 751, so it's not a bargain.
However, bear in mind that prices will probably go down a bit once more retailers get a hold of it.
