Kodak has announced three new cameras, all featuring HD 720p.
The compact V1253 and V1233 both use a 12 megapixel sensor and have a 3x zoom lens. The V1233 has a 2.5 inch screen, while the V1253 has a 3.1 screen. The V1233 will cost €249, and the V1253 is priced at €299. Not exactly a bargain, in spite of the 720p at 30fps video mode.
These two models lack optical image stabilization, but they do however feature digital image stabilization. As we all know, stabilization is very important for video, and taking into account the faboulous 720p, this is a pity.
The 8 megapixel Z812 IS has no such issues. It's 12X SCHNEIDER-KREUZNACH zoom lens is optically stabilized. Kodak promises fast operation, ISO sensitivity up to 3200 and easy to access intuitive controls. The camera has a 2.5 inch screen. The Z812 IS will retail for €299.
Kodak's new cameras are scheduled to appear next month.
