With its new S8000fd, Fujifilm is also going über-zoom and joning the 18X club.
The new camera is based around Fujinon's 18x (27-486mm, F2.8 - F4.5) zoom lens and an 8 megapixel sensor, and it's the first Fujifilm with CCD shift image stabilisation. It will feature a 2.5 inch screen, and the new EVF boasts 60 FPS and a 240k pixel resoulution.
At 4 megapixels or less, the camera can take pictures at ISO 6400, it features a VGA video mode at 30 FPS and face recognition technology. And thank God, the guys at Fujifilm are starting to install SDHC slots on their cameras.
Fujifilm's answer to the Panasonic FZ18 and Olympus SP-550UZ is coming in September at a retail price of $399.95.
