We've learned a while ago that upcoming Consumer Electronic Show (CES) will be the place of introduction of at least two new hot pieces of hardware.
Phenom II will be born at this show and it will be followed
by immediate availability on Thursday, January 8th of this new year. AMD
will launch Phenom II 940 at 3.0GHz Black Edition that will be completely
multiplier unlocked and Phenom II 920 at 2.8GHz at lower price, with a locked
multiplier.
Nvidia won't rest and the card that we've showed and previewed back in mid-December, the Geforce GTX 295 with two GT200b 55nm GPUs, will
officially launch at this show and show be available at the time of launch. We expect
to see many consumer like products and we are not aware of any revolutionary
things from Intel, apart of a few notebook CPUs and energy efficient quad
cores. Microsoft might be showing its Windows 7 beta, but this might very well
happen behind closed doors.
As far as we know, ATI won’t show any new 40nm products and
neither will Nvidia. It is simply too early. The show kicks off on Thursday and
you can bet that we will be there to cover it.
