AMD is taking its time with its Crossfire X driver, and we've learned that the driver is scheduled for Q1. The original plan was to launch it in January, but AMD said that it doesn't want to rush things.
It wants to launch this driver when it is sufficiently mature, as it doesn’t want any more fiascos such as we have seen previously with other multi-GPU solutions.
The driver will support three and four cards in Crossfire, and it will also support the soon-to-be-launched Radeon 3870X2 dual card. You will be able to plug two of these cards together and have a quad Crossfire.
Let’s hope it will be sooner in the quarter rather than later.
