The maker of expensive printer ink HP has written a cheque for $12 million to buy  HyperSpace from BIOS firm Phoenix Technologies. In addition to HyperSpace, HP also acquired the HyperCore and Phoenix Flip fast-boot and client virtualisation product lines as part of the deal.

Phoenix chief executive Tom Lacey  said that he was pleased that HP has agreed to acquire these assets relating to Phoenix's HyperSpace, given HP's rich history of innovation and product differentiation. Well we expect he is happy with the money and will probably buy a boat now.

But the question now is what will HP do with the Linux based Hyperspace.  HP is getting all software lately with its purchase of Palm's WebOS. Our guess is that it wants to push a more faster technology onto that market.
