France backs German IE8 warnings
At least they agree on something
A French government agency has voiced its support for Germany's initiative to find an alternative to Internet Explorer.
Citing security concerns, Certa warned users against using all versions of Redmond's browser. Certa is a government agency tasked with tackling cyber threats and it officially recommended using an alternative browser until Microsoft comes up with a patch to fix a few issues.
Microsoft maintains that IE8 is the most secure browser on the market and that everyone should use it. A Microsoft spokesman told the BBC that users of IE6 are at risk, but only if the visit a compromised website.
"The risk is minimal," said Microsoft Head of Security and Privacy Cliff Evans. "There are very few of them out there."
Microsoft is working on an update to address security concerns voiced by Germany and France.
