3.8 million sold, but only 1.7 million in the U.S.
Sony has released its official 2009 holiday sales numbers, and they claim that they were able to move 3.8 million units of the PlayStation 3 worldwide, with 1.7 million of those PS3s being sold in the U.S.
The company is crowing that this is a 76% improvement, leading to the best holiday season sales of the PS3 so far. Sony claims that these sales prove that the PlayStation 3 is gaining momentum, and as a result the company will be looking to expand the PlayStation Network as part of their future strategy.
