Boldly going

Giga Computing has released a GIGABYTE enterprise series based around AMD EPYC 8004 Series processors.

The idea is to use the new AMD EPYC 8004 CPUs to target edge applications, CSPs, and value enterprises.

For these uses, the new R243 and R143 server series are poised alongside ME33 and ME03 motherboard series for what Giga calls cost-optimised performance.

The solution uses “Zen 4c” core architecture. The outfit claims that the AMD EPYC 8004 Series CPUs delivers performance and power efficiency with built-in security capabilities in an optimised single-socket platform.

The new SP6 socket was also designed to enable the power, cost, and form factor requirements for the AMD EPYC 8004 Series CPUs’ target markets and diverse applications such as intelligent edge computing and telco.

Giga Sales VP Vincent Wang said there were many uses for the EPYC 8004 Series, and we are launching solutions to address them in rack servers and motherboards.

“Extending the product offerings for the 4th Gen AMD EPYC platform allows us to target better customers that prioritise performance/watt and TCO, and are doing so in applications at the edge as well as by our cloud service providers,” he said.

AMD vice president, Server Product and Technology Marketing Lynn Comp said that the new AMD EPYC 8004 Series processors extend the established high efficiency ‘Zen4c’ core architecture into lower core count CPU offerings with much lower TDP ranges.

“With this efficiency and performance, system builders can create new single-socket form factors suitable for traditional data centres as well as diverse edge server deployments.”
