The company also reportedly discontinued the Nikon D5 DSLR, the SB-300 flash, and a couple of older lenses.
The story has not been confirmed and comes from a site called Nikon Rumors, which cites a Nikon dealer in Germany who received a memo from Nikon that the following products had been discontinued and were no longer available to order:
- The Nikon F6
- The Nikon D5
- The Nikon SB-300
- The NIKKOR AI-S 50mm f/1.2
- The NIKKOR 24mm f/2.8
None of this is particularly surprising as Nikon is trying to streamline manufacturing and cut costs. But the end of the Nikon F6 comes as a surprise after Nikon kept the camera going for so long.
It was also pretty lucrative as the flagship film SLR sold for $2,600 brand new from retailers and Nikon’s own online store.
