Google will make the data it collects on its users anonymous after 18 months instead of the previously planned 18 to 24 months.
This comes after last month's letter from EU bureaucrats and last weeks Privacy International report in which Google got a rather unflattering grade.
Privacy International is calling for a summit of "internet giants" next month in an attempt to reach some sort of agreement and lay the foundations of a lasting privacy policy which would bind all participants.
