Mark Zuckerberg announced today at this year’s Oculus Connect conference the latest addition to the family, the Oculus Go. The new standalone VR headset that will sit in the middle of the Oculus offerings between the mobile and high-end units.
With shipments due early next year, the Oculus Go will be priced at $199, which is only slightly higher than the low end Gear VR offering at $129. From what we have been hearing the chipset that will be powering this setup is Qualcomm's 821 chipset. Along with the Snapdragon at it's core, it will come with new lenses, a WQHD (2560x1440) “fast-switch” LCD display, as well as having spatial audio built into the headset, which allows the device to be used without external headphones.
