Apparently, the outfit has written an $8 billion cheque as part of its major push into the auto-related technology.
The deal would "give Samsung a significant presence in the large and rapidly growing market for connected technologies, particularly automotive electronics, which has been a strategic priority," Samsung sung.
It is rather good news for the outfit, which has suffered from bad press coming from its withdrawal of the fire prone Galaxy Note 7.
Samsung has been talking to Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) over a potential sale or partnership for its Magneti Marelli auto parts maker, sources have said.
