As noted, the new Asus VG278HV gaming monitor is based on a 27-inch TN-panel panel with 1920x1080 resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. Since it is based on a TN-panel, the 1ms response rate does not come as a surprise and it also comes a maximum brightness of 300 cd/m2, 1000:1 contrast ratio and 170/160 degree viewing angles.
Asus also promises "vivid color performance" due to its own Splendid Video Intelligence Technology and more importantly, it comes with a stand that allows swivel, tilt and height adjustments. The new Asus VG278HV comes with D-Sub/VGA, DVI and HDMI 1.4 inputs and it even features a 3W stereo speakers, although we do not expect any serious sound quality from them.
Unfortunately, Asus did not reveal any details regarding the price but did note that the new VG278HV should be available on retail/e-tail shelves as of this month. A quick check at our favorite price search engine shows it listed in Europe for around €370.
