Nero has  announced today that Nero Linux 3 has been released and is the first Linux application to support hi-def burning.

Nero Linux 3 offers 64-bit native support, new audio-centric features, including high speed digital audio extraction and an embedded audio encoder/decoder/transcoder that supports Ogg, Flac, Wav, and MP3 formats.

According to a press release, although the first Blu-ray burners were made available months before standalone players hit the stores in late summer 2006, but until now the most popular open source operating system has been excluded from hi-def disc burning software.
