The company did not reveal the full spec, but the drive will be available as the Toshiba Desk 3.5-inch internal SATA 3.0 drive and the Toshiba Canvio Desk 3.5-inch external USB 3.0 drive.

This is the company’s first 6TB unit, but it’s late to the party – WD, HGST and Seagate have been shipping 6TB drives for months, including some 7200rpm models.

The fact that Toshiba is using the same drive in the external Canvio series suggests this is a 5400rpm model. Both drives have an MSRP of $369 and will ship with a 4-year warranty. The drives will be available sometime in May.
