Nokia Networks' Przemyslaw Strzelczyk has created the Mouse-Box which looks and works like a conventional mouse, but contains a processor, flash storage, an HDMI connection, and Wi-Fi connectivity.
It is connected to a monitor via the HDMI interface and connects to an Internet connection through standard Wi-Fi.
"From now on, you don't need to buy a few devices to keep your computer always at hand. Mouse-Box uses the power of a mouse, an invariable component in a computer set for many years," states the Mouse-Box blog.
"By virtue of placing a computer in a mouse, the two most powerful elements have been combined in one unity."
The Mouse-Box's has a 1.4GHz ARM Cortex CPU, 128GB flash storage (cloud storage optional), Micro HDMI port, Wi-Fi connectivity, and 2 x USB 3.0 ports
Work is also underway to include a wireless mouse pad charger, according to the developers, who are inviting potential financial backers to contact them.
