75 prototypes were considered for Xbox One

Carl Ledbetter, a senior industrial design engineer at Microsoft, has revealed that the company considered more than 75 sketched and 3D printed designs before deciding on the final design for the console we now know as the Xbox One.

Ledbetter says that the console maker was “extremely thorough” and they were trying to push “boundaries” and do something “inventive” with the design of the Xbox One, and that is the reason so many prototypes were done.

This isn’t all, because Ledbetter says that more than 100 designs were considered for the new Kinect and more than 200 designs were looked at for the design of the new controller. However, even with all of the work that went into crafting the new Xbox One design many still have found it to be pretty plain.
