The UM95 will be available as a 34-inch or 29-inch IPS 21:9 UltraWide monitor. Both units will feature UltraWide QHD resolution (3440 x 1440) which is not exactly 4K or UHD. However, CES visitors will have a chance to check out the 31MU95, a proper 31-inch 4K monitor. The 31MU95 has a 4096x2160 IPS panel and LG is marketing it to professionals working in creative industries.
In addition the company will show off UM65 monitors in 25-, 29- and 34-inch sizes. These models will be somewhat more affordable and they are aimed at office environments.
“LG IPS 21:9 UltraWide series was originally developed as user-centric PC monitors toenhance the computing experience, for both work and play,” said Hyoung-sei Park, head of the IT Business Division at LG Electronics. “Our 21:9 aspect ratio monitors has proven to be a critical and commercial success and we forecast this market will continue to grow.”
The UM95 series will feature Thunderbolt 2 connectivity, along with DisplayPort 1.2 support.
