Rehtaeh Parsons might have thought that killing herself would mean an end to her internet bullying. The Canadian teen killed herself after a separate photo, showing her alleged rape by four boys, was circulated online.

However a clueless dating site, scraped the Internet for a picture of a teen girl who they thought would make a great face for their company and put it in their Facebook campaign. The advert had used the title "Find Love in Canada!" and referred users to ionechat.com. It turned out that the reason the picture was on the internet was because the death of Rehtaeh Parsons was somewhat newsworthy.

Her father said on Wednesday that he had been "disgusted" by the advert. Facebook said it had banned the company involved from the social network.

"This is an extremely unfortunate example of an advertiser scraping an image from the internet and using it in their ad campaign," a spokesman said.

That website has shut down.
