There are a couple of “gotcha” things with this new Season Pass Guarantee the first of which is that it only includes selected titles from Microsoft and partner publishers Activision, Electronic Arts, and Ubisoft. When it says “select titles” a better way of saying this might be that only “participating Xbox 360 titles” are eligible for the Season Pass Guarantee.
While a list of participating titles has not yet been released, we do know that Season Pass content for Call of Duty: Ghosts and Premium memberships for Battlefield 4 are included as part of the program. A list of additional titles is expected to be released at some point in the near feature once everything is sorted out.
Sounds like a good idea to us, but we have to wonder how many people will be buying Xbox 360 titles that they later upgrade to the Xbox One version? It for sure is a positive step in the right direction to protect your DLC purchases, but if there are not enough participating titles then it might not be as big of a deal as Microsoft seems to think it will be.
